This workshop is a great chance to get creative, enjoy some festive cheer, and make unique decorations to brighten up your home or gift to friends. No experience needed, just bring your festive vibes and get ready to craft some Christmas magic!

The festive wood slice bunting

With Christmas around the corner, let's make something that brings a bit of hygge into your home. Hygge is the Danish idea of cosiness and quiet contentment, and this bunting is built for exactly that.

Each piece is made from real wood, left unvarnished so it keeps its natural character. You'll prepare and decorate your slices yourself. But first, you'll spend some time practising a cursive style of lettering on paper, getting comfortable writing NOEL, before moving on to the wood itself.

Whether you're making this for your own home, to hang on a bookshelf, or as a gift for someone you love, it's something that'll last for years and something you'll be proud to have made.

• An introduction to cursive calligraphy and 1:1 support from from Steph
• Preparing the wood slices: painting, lettering and joining them together so they spell out 'Noel'
• Adding embellishments like gold paint and ribbon

The cosy venue

We host this workshop at Glossop Market Hall, a venue chosen carefully because of its support for local independent traders and artisan makers, which makes it the perfect setting. We'll be in a lovely area on the mezzanine, just back from the hustle of the main hall. Feeling peckish? We're close enough to get some festive tipples and snacks from the wide selection of food and drinks outlets.
