Glossop Market Hall Set to Complete Transformation with September Mezzanine Launch

Nine fully occupied retail units, additional seating and new social activities will complete the landmark town-centre destination following more than half a million visits since opening.

Glossop Market Hall is preparing to unveil the final major addition to its transformed town-centre destination, with the much-anticipated Mezzanine due to open in mid-September.

Overlooking the bustling Main Hall, the new Mezzanine will be home to nine retail units, all of which are now fully occupied. The complete trader line-up will be announced by the end of August and will bring together an exciting mix of local and regional businesses offering both products and services.

Scaffolding will be installed while the final works are completed ahead of the launch. However, there will be no impact on the day-to-day operation of Glossop Market Hall, which will remain fully open.

Alongside the new businesses, the Mezzanine will introduce additional seating and social activities, including pool tables and dartboards, creating even more opportunities for visitors to meet, relax and spend time in the Market Hall.

A New Mix of Independent Businesses

The Mezzanine has been designed to complement the Market Hall’s existing food, drink and retail offer while introducing new products, services and experiences to the venue.

Its nine independent businesses will add another dimension to the Market Hall, strengthening its reputation as a platform for local enterprise and giving visitors new reasons to return throughout the week.

Details of each Mezzanine trader will be revealed before the end of August, ahead of the new space’s official launch in mid-September.

Completing the Market Hall

The opening of the Mezzanine will complete the transformation of Glossop’s historic municipal buildings into a diverse, year-round destination.

The completed venue will comprise four distinctive areas: the Retail Arcade; the Main Hall and its independent food and drink traders; The Old Town Hall wedding and events space; and the new Mezzanine.

Together, the spaces offer a vibrant mix of shopping, eating, drinking, entertainment, events, and community activities in the heart of Glossop.

Since opening its doors, Glossop Market Hall has welcomed more than half a million visitors, establishing itself as a popular gathering place for residents and visitors and providing a significant boost for independent businesses and the wider town centre.

A Thriving Hub for the Town
